THE ARTIST |

Welcome to my little piece of the digital world. Within you
will find a wide range of work that varies in concept, scope, and
even medium. Ranging from simple pencil sketches to more
complete 2D realizations, 3D computer generated designs, and even
some sculpture work on a miniature scale.
I have pursued art in many varied forms for as long as I can
remember, longer still if you
consider the memories of my parents. I started like any child
would, replicating the world around
me as I saw it, but it wasn’t long before the realization hit me
that I don’t have to rely solely on
what my eyes told me. Rather, the images in my mind became my
subject matter, to truly
create something that has never been seen before by the likes of
anyone. This was the impetus
for my journey into the world of concept art and design.
Some have asked me over the years, “How do you do it,” or a better
question has been
“Why do you do it?” The “how” is simple -- technique,
something that anyone with the patience
and the drive can learn. The “why” isn’t as simple.
Surely I enjoy the process of discovering a
concept that is extrapolated from things and experiences around me
and then moving to the design
phase. I do enjoy the process of design that starts with a
concept that is intangible in every way
and evolves into something very real. But, these simple joys
are not the driving force; they are
a byproduct of the process. Perhaps it is the challenge and
the feeling of achievement that drives me,
or perhaps not. I may never know what truly drives the
creative force within me, but I intend to continue on this ambitious
path regardless of an answer waiting for me at the end or not.
I once stumbled on a Latin phrase “Ars Longa, Vita Brevis,” simply
translated to
“Art is long, Life is short.” Some would argue the exact
meaning and translation, but the way
I see it, the meaning is the same in any translation. The
older I get, the more this phrase
makes sense to me and the more profound the meaning becomes.
The volume of work you see
within this site pales in comparison to the amount that is still
silently evolving in my mind and yet screaming to be released to the
world through my inherent talent in concept art and design.
I do hope you enjoy the work you see here, and do hope that you
return frequently to see
any new additions. For as long as there are new worlds to be
discovered, populated with
my wildest imaginations, there will be concept art and design work
to be done.
Thank you,
Tim Hiller
